UK MASHHHH

A Canadian outpost for UK sound culture — bass, garage, breaks, and the mashups that happen when they meet. Independent label, promotions platform, and occasional night.

Based in Guelph, ON Operating since 2026 Corp. No. 1819217-1
01 The Label

British sound,
Canadian ground.

An independent label and platform, not a venue and not an agency.

UKMASHHH is a small label and promotions platform built around one idea: that the most interesting music coming out of the UK — bass, garage, breaks, the messy overlaps between them — travels well, and lands differently when it arrives in Canada.

We do three things. We release records, in small runs, on vinyl and digital, from artists on both sides of the Atlantic. We promote nights and one-off events, usually in spaces that were not designed for them. And we make mashups — the kind that should not work and occasionally do.

The name is deliberately unserious. The work is not. We care about the mastering chain, the print quality on the sleeve, the running order, the soundsystem, and the fact that the door person is polite. Everything else is negotiable.

We are federally incorporated and privately held. Our catalogue is small, our nights are irregular, and our inbox is open.

03 Frequency

Where it sits.

The four bands we care about, and what lives in each.
40–80Hz Sub-bass

The weight. The part you feel before you hear it. If it is not right here, nothing above it matters.

80–250Hz Low-mid

The body of the kick and the bassline. Where the groove either locks or turns to mud.

250 Hz–4kkHz Midrange

Vocals, stabs, the parts of a break that make you recognise it across a room.

4k–12kkHz Highs

Hats, air, texture. Easy to overdo. We do not overdo it.

04 Method

How we run it.

Four rules. None of them are about scale.
01

Small runs, pressed properly

Records are pressed in runs of a few hundred, not a few thousand. The mastering is done by people who know the room it will be played in. Sleeves are printed, not photocopied.

02

Nights in rooms not built for them

We put soundsystems in spaces that were not designed for them — a gallery, a basement, a warehouse with bad acoustics and good bones. The constraint is part of the sound.

03

Mashups with a reason

A mashup is only interesting if the two records were not supposed to meet. We do not make them for novelty. We make them when the collision says something neither track said alone.

04

The door is part of the night

Who works the door, how the room feels when you walk in, whether the sound is right before the first track — these are not logistics. They are the night. We treat them that way.
